Some people are natural wordsmiths, but most of us are not, are we?
Yes, writing can be hard work, especially when our words don’t achieve the actions desired, right? Put another way, when others don’t read what we’ve written, or when they don’t take the actions we wanted, that can be frustrating. It can also negatively impact business performance, can’t it?
Yet, it doesn’t have to be that way, does it? With an injection of a few new skills and techniques, as well as a refreshed mindset, it’s plausibly possible to take a contemporary look at the “lost art of writing”. This will allow us to embrace writing for more effective & enjoyable, business & personal use.
To be effective & enjoyable, we need to start writing in ways that are much more purposeful and engaging. We need to structure texts in ways that credibly stimulate our audiences to pick-up, and to read on. We need to be mindful to use simple grammar, that’s organised to make it easier for others to understand the message we’ve encoded. We also need to consider how to leverage the language, to make that message much more persuasive.
As we do these simple things, and do them well, then yes, we create a platform that achieves influence. And, it is influence that every Writer needs in order to positively affect their readers to take action; wouldn’t you agree?
This Workshop therefore takes an emotionally intelligent approach to writing. Our focus reframes the challenge, to explore how we can encourage others to read and understand our words. We’ll also see that real action is only possible once we start using more persuasive language.
